Fisher E Series Swim Spa – Update to SV4 Controller

Fisher E Series Swim Spa – Update to SV4 Controller

FISHER E SERIES SWIM SPA PRODUCT UPDATE NOTICE

March 27th, 2024

Overview

As of March 27th, 2024, the configuration of the Fisher E-Series swim spas has been updated to include a SV4 controller rather than an SV3 controller.
This requires a change to the controller at the factory from the default of 40 amps to 32 amps. This articles has the instructions on how to check and change the current limit setting on the SpaNet controller found in Fisher Train E, Fisher Lap E and Fisher Swim E models.

Scope of Change

Spa models impacted:
  1. Fisher Train E
  2. Fisher Lap E
  3. Fisher Swim E

Specifications

Detailed specification changes:
Fisher E Series swim spas require a SV4 controller to allow for the specified pump configuration.
The SV4 controller is set to draw 40 amps by factory default.  To align with customer expectations, the maximum current draw setting on these controllers will be reduced from 40 amps to 32 amps when the at the factory when the spa is manufactured.

Failure to reduce the max draw on the controller will cause nuisance tripping of the spas power circuit breaker.

The spa will be checked at the factory as part of the QA process to ensure that this change has been made and an additional check needs to be tested by handover technicians at the point of handover.

Checking and changing the current limit setting

To check that the default C.LMT (current limited setting) setting on the controller has been updated follow the instructions here:
The power draw by the SV controllers can be limited or increased to suit the electrical supply to the spa. The Electric element, Heat pumps and water pumps all require different settings to be adjusted to control their operation. All these settings are accessed by entering the hidden OEM menu by simultaneously pressing and holding: Air Blower & W.CLN buttons together until [C.LMT] appears on the display as per FIG 1.

Once in the menu, a ten (10) second idle menu time out period exists.
If a button press is not detected for 10 seconds the menu will time out and the screen will return to the default display mode.

If the default setting hasn’t been changed from 40 amps to 32 amps the C.LMT (current limited setting) setting will need to be adjusted by following these instructions:
  1. To change these settings use the UP & DOWN buttons to navigate the configuration menu.
  2. Press OK to enter the desired settings menu.
  3. Use the UP or DOWN buttons to adjust the setting to the desired value.
  4. Press OK to confirm and save new setting. The current menu will be displayed on the screen.
  5. Once the required changes have been completed, navigate the menu by pressing either the UP or DOWN button until the display shows [EXIT]
  6. Press OK button to exit the menu and return to the default display.
In this visual example the Current Limit is being reduced from 32 to 25 amps

In the event of an EPROM reset

In the event the of the spa needing an EPROM RESET (hard reset that restores factory settings) or has a spa controller replacement the current draw will revert back to the factory default of 40 amps. Whenever this happens the service technician, electrician or customer will need to reduce the C.LMT setting back to 32 amps following the instructions above.
