Vortex™ Pergola Troubleshooting Guide

Important Reminder:
  1. If you have a Vortex™ pergola with two motors and one motor is functioning while the other is not, you should turn off the functioning motor as well.  This step is crucial because if the working motor is not powered off, the codes from the non-working motor might override or disrupt the functioning motor.
  2. If the steps below do not resolve the issue, it is recommended to repeat the entire process.

How to clear the code between the Vortex™ Pergola motor, remote control, and wall switch

To clear the existing code between your Vortex™ Pergola motor remote and wall switch, follow these simple steps:

Step 1:  Reset the Motor Power

  1. Turn off the motor power for 60 seconds.
  2. Turn the power back on.

Step 2: Prepare the Wall Switch

Remove the wall switch cover by using a screwdriver to pry it off.

Step 3: Clear the code




  1. Using a pin or needle that fits into the hole, press and hold the P2 button (a small hole on the switch) for 7 seconds until you hear a beep.
  2. Once the switch starts beeping, press the UP button on the wall switch.
  3. You'll know the code is clear when you hear three beeps.

How to pair the remote control to the Vortex™ Pergola Motor

To pair the remote control for your Vortex™ Pergola Motor, follow these easy steps:


Step 1: Reset Motor Power

  1. Turn off the motor power for 60 seconds.
  2. Turn the power back on. You'll hear a beep indicating the power is on.


Step 2: Remove Remote Cover

Gently pull off the cover to access the remote's internal settings.

Step 3: Select Model 2


  1. Find the model switch inside the back of the remote. The switch model has two settings: Model 1 and Model 2.
  2. Use a pin or needle to switch to Model 2.

Step 4: Prepare the Remote for Pairing


Using a pin or needle, press and hold the P2 button (a small hole on the remote) for 7 seconds until you hear a beep.

Step 5: Connect to Pergola Motor

  1. Once the remote starts beeping, press the UP button on the remote control.
  2. The remote and pergola motor are connected when you hear three beeps.

Step 6: Reattach Remote Cover

Put the cover back onto the remote.


How to pair the wall switch to the Vortex™ Pergola Motor

To pair the wall switch to your Vortex™ Pergola Motor, simply follow these steps:

Step 1: Reset Motor Power

  1. Turn off the motor power for 60 seconds.
  2. Turn the power back on. You'll hear a beep indicating the power is on.


Step 2: Remove Wall Switch Cover

Carefully use a screwdriver to gently pry off the cover, giving you access to the switch.

Step 3:  Select Model 2






  1. Locate the model switch inside. It has two settings: Model 1 and Model 2.
  2. Use a pin or needle to switch to Model 2.

Step 4: Prepare Wall Switch for Pairing




  1. Using a pin or needle, press and hold the P2 button (a small hole on the switch) for 7 seconds until you hear a beep.

Step 5: Connect to the Pergola Motor

  1. Once the switch starts beeping, press the UP button on the wall switch.
  2. You'll know the switch and pergola motor are connected when you hear three beeps.

Step 6: Reattach Wall Switch Cover

Put the cover back onto the wall switch.

Vortex™ Pergola Swapping Direction Guide 

Direction swapping lets you change the direction of the shade.

Please follow the steps below to do this:

Step 1: Reset Motor Power

  1. Turn off the motor power for 60 seconds.
  2. Turn the power back on. You'll hear a beep indicating the power is on.

Step 2: Press the P2 button


Using a pin or needle, press and hold the P2 button (a small hole on the remote) for 7 seconds until you hear a beep.


Step 3: Swap direction

  1. Once the switch starts beeping, press and hold the UP and STOP buttons at the same time.  
  2. You'll know when you successfully swapped directions when you hear three beeps.
