Spa filter FAQ

What is the difference between a coarse and fine thread on my Filter?

We recommend checking your existing Filter to determine the exact match. However, the difference is the amount of threads on the spigot or handle.
Click here for an example of coarse thread and fine thread.

How long will a Filter last?

There are a number of variables that affect the life of your spa filter such as the amount your spa is used, and how the filter is maintained. Over a period of time your cartridge will gradually block up and will need replacing.
Pleated filters should be cleaned at least once a week.

Micron/Purezone filters cannot be cleaned but need to be replaced every 3-6 months if the spa pool is being used regularly.

Some signs that your spa filter needs to be replaced are:

1. The spa water is not staying clear.
2. The cartridge gets blocked quickly, and you have to clean your cartridge more often.
3. Restricted water flow and high differential pressure (differential pressure is the difference between the pressure coming in and the pressure going out, caused by a blocked cartridge).
4. A cracked or damaged cartridge, which is very rare unless the filter has been plugged or there is an issue with the spa plumbing.

Why are my vortex threaded filters not screwing into place?

This could mean the internal thread has worn over time from the pressure of over threading your filters in place.
The best solution would be to purchase the camlock filter adapter 3 pack and also purchase a 3 pack of vortex camlock filters.

How do I install the Cam Lock Filter Adaptors to my filter box?

There are two option when installing the Cam Lock Filter Adaptor:
As a semi permanent option you can place teflon tape on the thread of the adaptor before screwing in place.
For a permanent option you can glue in the adaptor with PVC glue.

Why is my Camlock Filter is hard to connect?

We suggest you check the check the bottom of the Filter to see if there is any plastic that needs removing from these threads.

My filter has a handle at the top, does the replacement filter need a handle?

No, you do not need a handle as long as the replacement filter meets all other requirements (length, width & connection)
