Electrical connections for your spa are typically found under the touch pad of your spa.
This information can be found in the technical pack (Specification sheet) on the product page for your specific spa model.
Please visit the Spa World web-site, locate your model and visit that models product page. You will find the downloadable tech pack in the specification area.
Will my spa plug into a standard power outlet?
This depends on the spa you have - only a 10 amp spa can plug into a standard household plug.
15 amp systems require a 15 amp power point and 32 amp needs to be hard wired. All spas and swim spas that require more than a 10 amp, need to be fitted by a qualified electrician.
To discuss your options, please consult with a Customer Consultant via our online chat function.
What is three phase power and can I use it?
Three phase electric power is a common method of alternating current electric power generation, transmission, and distribution. It is a type of polyphase system and is the most common method used by electrical grids worldwide to transfer power. It is also used to power large motors and other heavy loads.
For advise on your situation consult with your Electrician.
Please click the relevant button below for the SpaNet™ wiring diagram, which details how to wire 3 phase power.
What is single phase power on a spa pool?
In electrical engineering, single phase electric power is the distribution of alternating current electric power using a system in which all the voltages of the supply vary in unison. Single phase distribution are used mostly for lighting and heating.
For information on wiring power to your new spa, please see the manual for your particular spa model and consult with your electrician.
Does my spa come with a built in isolation switch?
No, your electrician would need to install a separate isolation switch for the spa power supply.
If you have questions about what amp requirements your spa needs, please contact our Customer Support Team via online chat.
Do I need an isolation switch for my spa?
If your spa or swim spa requires 32 amps or above it must be hardwired by a qualified electrician.
An isolation switch is an ON/OFF power switch installed in near proximity to the spa or swim spa on a hard wired power supply.
It allows for fast and easy adjustment of power on and off to the spa pool, without the need to return to the meter box where the master power circuit breaker and safety switch is located.
How do I know what amps my spa is?
In the comments section of your Spa World invoice, the salesperson should have noted the amount of amps that your spa requires to operate. If you cannot see this note, please call your salesperson as soon as possible. This information is what you need to provide to your electrician for them to quote correctly. Please only use a qualified electrician who will be able to recommend the safest and most efficient installation method.
Power points are available specifically for external use – these are required to have a special weather proofing rating (to a minimum of IP67). Our spas have amperage ratings of 10,15,32 and 40 amps.
Note: Please review our website to check the tech sheet for the spa model that you are purchasing. If you are unsure please contact one of our Customer Consultants via online chat.
What if my spa requires 10 to 15 amps?
Spas that are listed as 10 or 15 amps will require an outdoor waterproof powerpoint with an earth leakage protection device. Please consult with your electrician to ensure you meet local regulations.
If your spa comes with a cord, please check the tech pack to find where the cord is located.
All Vortex™ and Fisher™ Spas with a 10 or 15 amp rating, come with a 5 metre electrical lead. If you have bought one of these brands, you will need to drill a 60mm hole in the cabinet for the lead and the plug to fit through before you can connect your spa. A cable cover is included in your spa manual pack.
Please note, if your spa is situated further away than the length of the power cord – then your spa must be hardwired by an electrician.
What if my spa requires more than 15 amps?
If your spa requires more than 15 amps, it will need to be hard-wired by an electrician.
Typically this requires the electrician to visit your site twice. The first visit is to prepare the power cable for your new spa and the second visit, at the time of delivery, is to connect the power cable to the spa.
You can find specific information for your spa model in the tech pack which you can download from the specifications section of the product page for your spa model on the Spa World website.
Please note: All Dual-Zone swim spas have two separate controllers and require individual electrical connections.
